As the holidays slowly start creeping in with the cold, and the trees look dull and empty I can’t help but wonder what this world would look like without the holidays around this time of the year. The sky looming over the grey city with its clouds of fog. What was once warm, filled with a crisp aroma and colorful trees is now left with dull pastel leaves and a thick grey sky.
The days go by becoming chillier and more uncomfortable to endure. Naturally, we reach for something warm and cozy. The spark from finding a full embrace inspires care in one another. An inspiration the express appreciation and love to another human creates the yearly ritual we embody.
From eerie Halloween grasping the grey skies into an aesthetic gloom, comes the cozy and hopeful season in the winter. The skies turn dark and twinkling lights fill the dark into beautiful figures and shapes. The dark cold becomes a beautiful loving winter of fluffy garments and hot chocolate walking down alleys of lanterns and bulbs.
Before the snow falls and illuminates the Christmas holiday, Thanksgiving turns the corner inviting pumpkin filled treats to a loving warm table by a fireplace. Steaming food from the oven with bowls of sweets bringing people together, reminding every one of the good things and that may come. The snow falls soon and the children are excited for presents to come.
The snow is not just a vision of Christmas and the holidays. It is a reminder to cleanse the negativity out of our spaces. After all, a new year brings new opportunities that can be brought in with an open and positive mind.
